Some new tondo paintings

Recently, I’ve been working more and more in the circular (or tondo) format. The main result of this is that my work has been given something of a new lease on life, in particular in dealing with the compositional aspect of this change. Most paintings, generally speaking, are done in a rectangular format, the original idea being, I suppose, that the artwork was like a window or door upon another world. With a circle, that point of view changes. To me, the art piece becomes a small world unto itself. There is also a connection with the human eye, and probably other things that I haven’t thought of yet. Here are some of my favorite and very latest tondos…
